PHFI/RCZI-ILRI initiated the India Research Initiative on Peri-Urban Human-Animal-Environment Interface” in 2013, working closely with multiple partner institutions, agencies, donors and NGOs. This partnership base is likely to expand as work gains momentum with new studies, projects and collaborations that are in the pipeline. Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. It is India’s apex body for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research. The partnership with RCZI will help initiate a process wherein networks will be developed to sustain the gains made over the past few years, and extend it to beyond the lifetime of the PERIMILK project.
Massey University, New Zealand
Massey University based in Раlmеrstоn Nоrth, Nеw Zеаlаnd has campuses in Аlbаny and Wellington. Its School of Public Health furthers knowledge of health and wellness through public health practice, training and research. It is collaborating with RCZI and the India Research Initiative to build capacity in transdisciplinary research in South Asia.
University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia
The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching institutions that strives for excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer and application of knowledge. Its collaboration with RCZI entails studying spatial epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic pathogens in peri-urban small holder dairy farms in India
National Zoonoses and Food Hygiene Research Centre, Nepal
The NZFHRC was established in Nepal in 1993 to conduct research in infectious and communicable zoonotic diseases. In its work with RCZI, it will focus on building regional-level evidence on farming systems in peri-urban areas and help establish a formal liaison between the EcoHealth research movements in India and Nepal by initiating a South Asia EcoHealth research Network.
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, United States
Virginia Tech is a public, land-grant, research university that fulfills its grant mission of transforming knowledge to practice through technological leadership and by fueling economic growth and job creation locally, regionally, and across Virginia. Its collaboration with RCZI will see it analyse data points that have emerged from the baseline surveys of Perimilk study and initiate the development of mathematical models to describe the transmission of Brucella in difficult terrains, especially like those encountered in and around the study site of Guwahati.
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
Established in Ludhiana, Punjab in 2005, GADVASU promotes livestock production, health and prevention of disease through integrated teaching, research and extension programmes.
Assam Agricultural University (Department of Veterinary Public Health), Assam
Established in 1969 in Guwahati, Assam, it also promotes resource conservation, quality and market driven education in agriculture and allied fields for food security. The university also aims at promoting strategic and applied research for science-led agricultural growth.
Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University
The Government of Karnataka established KVAFSU with the primary objective and mandate to uplift rural livestock, poultry and fish farmers. It also aims to undertake rural-oriented and farmer-friendly activities.
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (School of Bio Technology), Odisha
KIIT School of Biotechnology, established in 2007 was the first institute in the state to offer integrated academic and research programmes. It promotes the incorporation of several basic sciences while promoting technical knowledge to find solutions that can improve the living conditions of humankind.
College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Udaipur, Rajasthan
The College of Veterinary and Animal Science in Udaipur is the second constituent Veterinary College of RAJUVAS, Bikaner, Rajasthan. Established in 2007, the college deals with all aspects of veterinary sciences including livestock research.
Department of Development Communications & Extension, Lady Irwin College
The department of Development Communication & Extension at the Lady Irwin College is part of Delhi University. It addresses needs of family and community for mobilsation and participation of masses, gender equity, women’s empowerment and sustainable development through its interdisciplinary training and multi-faceted programmes. It trains students and professionals to work as development practitioners and researchers providing them with a strong theoretical foundation and experiential learning in participatory development processes and communication.
